    New catamaran project

    Hello everybody.

I stoped RC offshore for a long time, my last boat is a Key Biscayne from Graupner with Ultra 1600 Marine motor powered by 20 Ni-Cd cells.Actually I sell it on Ebay, here' s a picture

Now I will build a Head of the River catamaran, motor supplied with Lipo 6S batteries ( 2x3)

I ordered the 32" fibreglass catamaran hull, an aluminum rudder and strut, Xpower motor 540 XL size 1510Kv 60A, a 60 mm water Cooling Jacket, a Xpower 540 Adjustable motor mount and a Himodel GX 200 Amp speed controller. This one will be modified for water colling

Do you have any comment about this setup ?

    Thanks

Here are 32" hull and parts

Is it necessary to rigidify the bottom of the hull?

Looks like you did your homework. Just remember that a 1510kv motor on 6s is a mildly hot setup and to prop small to start and keep your run times short until you are confident that the setup doesn't run to hot. Good luck and keep the build pics coming.

are you sure those motor mounts are going to work......they dont look like they will fit in the sponsond very well and have any movement needed to get lined up properly

              you should have gotten these

any duel drive system cats I have seen dont have that type of mount especialy since you have 74mm long motors those legs on the mount will not work...the ones i sent you a link to will work

ooops sorry I thought you were going dual but you are not so that mount will work fine

Nick, it is good to have that info. in case others may want to run dual drives.
                Thanks for posting that.

I don't either, very nice looking mount. The problem was if you were running twin set up. Since you are not, no worries. Can't wait to see more, carry on!

I agree, for a single drive cat that motor mount is totally fine. Nice one.

As long as it fits under the hatch there should be no problem......

Just make sure the motor plus the water cooler does not rub against the hatch when its closed.....

Nice motor mount, it kinda looks similar to the Etti ones that OSE sells.....

                          Good luck

                            I see a problem...

The bottom of the part the motor mounts directly to has a v shape. Cat hulls are generally flat, or very close to it in the tunnel.

That won't fit unless you block up the sides.

Or just turn over the center piece that holds the motor and reattach it to the sides
