Right now the stub shafts need to be rebuilt. They are 1/4 shafts and that is good possibly for the final prop. But to test and dial in the boat the stub shafts need to be 3/16 stepped up to 1/4 then 5/16 to fit in the housing, then in to the 1/4 flex shaft. I hope I did not loose any one on this explanation. I am sure it did pictures to come when I get to the shop.
I will be having a friend in Oakland help build the shafts. He is a old hot rodder like my self, he built nitro boats for a long time and was one of Andy Browns suppliers for hardware parts. He also helped me get my shop started. Great guy we call him Gonzo. I can not wait to visit him next week.
While I am waiting to build these parts I can get a bit of work done around the shop that has been put a-side.
Note of the day: Greg S. where are you? I need to get in contact with you. Your boat is all most done. I called you but you said your were travling. I will try to call Mark F to see if he knowsComment

Randy,
I think you'll find that most of the props that suit the power you are talking about will be 1/4" bore size. I bet you'll find it easier to cut down gas size props that can handle that power rather than bending blades or worse throwing a blade or entire prop.
I forgot what Kv you are using, but what RPM's are you expecting?

Downsizing the shaft because of the use of Octura's ?
Why not use Propshops, they have an assorti of smaller props with 1/4 bore.Comment

That is correct. Damon is a good guy and trying to finish this with me. Each prop from Prop Shop cost a bit of money. He has spent a chunck of bucks on this and is not a rich man just a working stiff. thanks for the tip. The last prop I bought form PSH was $85.00. It should make the boat I am working on be a rocket. But to need three sets of left and right props at $85.00. I want to start small as always and work up. I can see Damon's heart jump reading this.Comment

We have two 3080 8T on 12S2P. I am doing this on a budget to save his marriage. I do not have all the giant sizes to loan and test. In fact I have little left and right props of my own. I think the end result will be better this way. One of the video's we saw said the props were Octuras 472's and that was what he was shooting for, I just wanted to work up to a little rather than going too big and having a fire!Comment
