        I'm not sure about a JAE 12 conversion for spec hydro. It will end up a near double the design weight for the boat. The .21 when it comes available will likely be a better conversion for the UL-1.

          Agreed, a .12 size boat is a bit small for a UL1 setup.

          It should certainly fit, it's just going to be heavy.

          I think a high rpm 2s setup would be the way to go with this one.

          Looking at the pics of the individual parts, it looks like the boom mounting technique is going to be VERY strong... And easy to assemble, too.

            Yea, that is a very good piont.. I will save the UL-1 setup for the raptor P-spec! Do you think a Neu 1506-1509 on 2s would work in the JAE12?

            Thanks for the good ideas! I am right with you guy's... Seems the UL-1 setup will double the intended weight.. I think i will go with the 2s idea...

              The .21 kit should be out in time for you to give the hint to the better half to get you one under the Christmas tree.
              I've got 2 of the .12 kits that arrived last Monday. I'm going nitro as I don't know squat about FE boats. I'm building one at a time so that if I mess up one, I've got a spare for parts. So far it's going together quickly and pretty well considering that usually I'm not too good at putting wood kits together.
              Here's some shots of the .12, .21 and what may be the .45 version prototype in the background that I took at the Hydro Masters race in Hobart, IN a week ago.
              I'll let you guys figure out what size FE BL setup would work best.

                Thanks for the info,,, I will tell the Wife to put the .21 on the SANTA list, since I am already in line for a couple..LOL

                I should be getting my 2/ .12 kits very soon.. I am thinking about using the 1115 or 1112 Neu motors,, should be a nice fit.. Lot less weight than the UL-1 setup,, mabey in the .21..... Now to decide on esc's for these little guys! Mabey CC 120 or sm. schulze.....

                  Seeing how I'm already throwing my kits together, maybe I can add a few tips of my own while building. So far, one has been to use a piece of brass or aluminum tubing to align the doublers for the sponson boom tubes. Just be careful with whatever adhesive that you're using around that area.

                    Mine is in the mail and driving me nuts!!

                    I know it's not the best thing for this small a hull but I will do the UL 1 set just because I have one. I've never been one to let common sense and good advise stop me....wonder if I should just get a second coming?

                      Let us know how it works... motor and controller aren't the problem. It's going to be fitting 4S of 4000 mah or more... Good luck...

                        I am looking at 2 x 2s 2600/35c Hyperion G3 packs for 2s2p and 5200mah total... Should be plenty for a 6 lap heat race.. I dought these hulls will pull many amps, should be light and minimal resistance on the water..

                        2s 2600/35c size::106x34x19mm....
