Cool thread, like the look, but I agree about the cowl for the motor...
I love those motors and I have an experience based suggestion. I would resolder the bullets to at very least 4mm - but I have found that even those can melt mid run... bittersweet bummer (sweet that nothing serious happened, but you are shut down for the moment). I run mine on 4-6S and the bullets end up being the weak link - so I go 5.5mm. Note, don't cut the motor wires as you will have to physically crimp on any wires - they don't take solder except where the bullets are presently.
Yes post vids, will be watching.... have ideas about outboards now.... very cool.
.....where would one find a lower unit like that???"Look good doin' it"

Hey Jesse,
Thanks for the tip on the motor connections. I was afraid that would be my week link especially with the distance from the motor to the speed controller. I have never had an issue with my FastTech or Black Jack but I don't have an extention on them.
The lower unit is a K&B 3.5. I'll most likely end up trimming out some of the lower unit to save weight. The area where the nitro exhaust exit is all unused.
Well I couldn't wait so this morning before work I went over to the Erie Canal boat launch by my house to see what would happen. I set it in the water and the back end sat down in the water. About 2 inches from the back were slightly submerged. The added weight of the battery makes it heavier than the nito version but I figured once on plane it wont matter.
I slowly moved the throttle and as soon as the motor engaged the boat shot out of the water going vertical like a rocket! It jumped completely out of the water by at least a foot the landed flat upside down and started to float away!!!. Lucky for me I was smart enough to bring a fishing pole. After a few casts I was able to snag it and bring it to shore. A little water leaked in the radio box, just enough to mess up the reciever. I had coated the Lipo with Devcon Adhesive sealant so that stayed dry.
I'm drying everything out and adjusting the tilt of the motor. I had a slight bow up setting. Motor seems to have tons of power. I had the same prop I was running with the nito motor 10 years ago. 437 3 blade Octura. The boat might need a little toss so it doesn't go vertical on me again. Sorry I didn't get any pictures, all happened to fast. Next time I'll bring someone to run the video. Might have to wait until the weekend.Comment

Well I had a chance to test for a second time today on Irondequoit Bay. I was very please with the way it ran and I only had to get my feet wet. I used the same 3/437 prop I had on the nitro version. Sorry the video is so shakey, my son had the camera.

Tunnels are fun, aren't they. My TS-2 is one of my favorites in my fleet.

Randy,
I'll keep it in mind if I destroy or lose the cowl.
I just bought some new props and want to see if I can get some more out of it.
Is that a milled down K&B lower unit? I would love to get that big chunk of metal out where the exhaust exits.
