...I will not sand it down and leave the dimples. We will see how it goes.
It will go badly. Water is not air, and the stated effect only works with certain objects at certain velocities - like golf balls in air. Ever see a mach 2 jet plane with a rough dimpled surface? Ever looked at the bottom surfaces of a race boat? Smooth is where it's at. A rough bottom surface may not even plane - and if it does it will be a lot slower than if it was smooth.

Nice work. I recently picked up a SK Daddle Too at an estate sale, all painted and pinstriped with nuth'n but a skeg in place. Tempted to power it up....enjoying seeing your scratch build. Great reference. Keep it up.
well, i got most of the running gear in, also i have been working hard on sanding and filling some holes and scratches getting ready for paint, no new pix because not much done. I am going to start painting this weekend hopfully! I did a test float today in the tub, man does the boat want to move, i have a 19t motor in it with a traxxas xl5 esc. I assume i will get 15-17mph on this setup.
here are some new pix, started to stain the boat. Just need to fiberglass the inside, paint the sides, install all the running gear and i can go test it. :yippee:
edit: just fiberglassed the inside, at this rate i might get to test it out sunday
Hi, you are doing a great job. I built a Sk-Daddle Too years ago. I will include a couple of pics. This boat is powered with the stock straight shaft running gear, and doesn't go very well. Long story.
I just bought another kit,(SK-Daddle Too) and am planning to build it for Electric power this time. I'm really interested to see what you will use for running gear. Is your boat a Sk-Daddle or Sk-Daddle Too?
MG
Hi, I just went back and read the whole thread. I should have done that in the first place I guess
Are you using the straight shaft ? Or is it a flex shaft ? I can't really see it in the pics.
I am interested in the idea of building in a Scale looking cockpit. That would be pretty cool. I was originally figuring on just leaving the motor compartment open?
Please keep posting the pics of your progress, I'm following along.
Thanks, MG
I am using the straight shaft from the dumas nitro hardware package. As for the scale parts i am going to get the boat running first, then work on them and have them done by spring.
The boat is a skd 2,using the dumas hardware, will not be using the plastic prop. Would post pics, but no camera. Also using titebond 2,built 5 zipp kits with it,and put a coat of epoxy over it. Larry
