They have the same ball bearings as Feigao, the 3 wires are the same grade and colour, bullet terminals are the same, and the case is anodised the same colour of red.

      bud?
my hobbycity 6XL does not have bearings, only bushings, and gets hot very quick compaired to a true feigao.
but I am going to take the bearings out of my hurt 11L Hobby motor and replace what I have in the 6XL and that should help that motor out some..

Yeah, sorry... I call everybody bud.

But alls im saying is that my KD motor has bearings. Nice wide ones at that.

The KB 45 series motors would be a much better choice to power that hull. Especially if you do this to them>

any KB45 series would be way to big for that little skinny hull and that esc would last 30 seconds

              ok Bud!
sorry, any time my mom would call me bud when I was a teenager, that ment I was in big trouble!

I'm going to take apart my 6XL, I could be wrong about this motor not having bearings.. my bad, it looks jacked compaired to my real 8XL..

Also that KB45 looks killer, I may pick one up for my Mean Machine and see what breaks!

How would a bigger motor that doesn't have to work as hard to output the same power draw more amps?!?!?!

                      j.m.

The kb45's are a very heavy motor, and do not go well on 4s, they need 6s IMO

add the 600 gram kb45 + 6s to the Rio Roses Fountain = Brick of a boat.

                        Would this not do?

I know it's an "L". But this motor is only 12mm shorter than a 540 XL. And most likely has more torque. Im not talking from experience, simply speculation, but I think it'd work great.

as Graham doesn't intend to race this boat it might be ok, but If it was me id be going with the 540 sized 9xl.

Well I'm glad the squabbling over Feigao versus KD motors has gone to another thread, now we can get back to the serious business of 'el cheapo' sports boat building.
Just for fun I have set myself the following targets.
                            40 mph pulling 40 amps with a 40mm prop, and a 4 minute run time using 4S.
                            Wish me luck !!!!
                            Graham.

i think thats a good target Graham.

                              Should be doable.

Graham, I think you will be pulling WAY MORE AMPS than 40 on your proposed setup, KD36-60-11L and a 40mm prop on a 30" stepped mono hull
Do you have a method of amp measurement?
