This has been going on alot with the Castle controllers. You may have to call them. You're running 6s2p right? You might want to get a himodel or two as a backup in the future.

I think with the castle link, the red wire has to be in the plug.Government Moto:

Yes I plugged the red wire back in to use the castle link
Yes there is a whole thread over at RRR on plug in spark killing MANY HV 240's
Yes I own two himodel 200 amp 7s esc's for backup and a LV 240....should I try a himodel or hydra. 240 LV?

I would go with the himodel just so you won't run the risk of further disappointment. I'm tempted to get rid of my hydra 120's and going with some more himodels. This is getting ridiculous and I am wondering why castle hasn't issued a recall.Government Moto:

When I was searching what kind of resistance is required for the Hydras to eliminate the spark, I found out that it was recommended 1 Ω(ohm) 2-5 watt. Tested and no spark.
MGM recommends higher ohm but for the Hydras is 1Ω (if you put higher, it will not start).
I would sugget to bring the ESC behind (towards the transom) of the motor, in order to have the battery wires shorter. Finding the right position is quite difficult and all setups I've seen are different. Your COG should be around 32-35%, and your motor is a bit forward located.Last edited by DISAR; 08-29-2009, 05:33 AM.Twin Cat 135, Sprintcat40 (single-twin), DF 35", Maritimo, Mean Machine, SV 27

if you are using a rx pack or an external bec then the red wire on the esc MUST be disconected
BUT if you are using a castle link to program the esc then the red wire MUST be plugged back in
but thank you for the 1 ohm info i will make one of these anti spark cable set ups for sure when i get my hydra 240 back from CCSPRINT CAT 40.........BOOGIMAN 25" MONO 8xl

she sure sounded sweet...kind of like she was mad at something

Bustit I do not want to argue but my HV240 runs fine with the red wire Connected. You disconnect the red wire only if the ESC has a Bec circuit but you want to provide external power source. If the ESC does not have bec (like the Hydras HV series or the ETTI 2-7s) the red wire must stay connected.Twin Cat 135, Sprintcat40 (single-twin), DF 35", Maritimo, Mean Machine, SV 27

Sir....... I stand corrected and you are absolutely correct the HV has no bec but the LV does
thanks for bringing it to my attentionSPRINT CAT 40.........BOOGIMAN 25" MONO 8xl

So what's the point of running a Hydra? The specs changed, The warrantee changed, The quality changed and my confidence in their product has changed. The only thing that hasn't changed is the price.Government Moto:
