Etti Saber build tips wanted please

    Hi All,

I have picked up an etti saber recently and am looking for as many photos and as much detail i can on building my saber?

my main interest is drive positioning and rudder position so the boat performs well.

I am using a etti drive shaft motor and motor mount as well as rudder and turn fin i just want to place it all well in the boat so i am not rushed i just want to get it right.

    Any help will begreatly appreciated

    Thanks

I hope i have a better ride with mine, i have a GFK boat as i prefer them to carbon.

I am looking for good info on drive and rudder position to prevent any issues with handling before i build then will look at the balance in the water before i determine where the rest of the hardware will sit.

P.s thanks rhnopole i hadnt found that link before and those extra pics will help!

I run all ETTI hardware as well. Here's my setup:

              Motor: Medusa 28-56-1900 KV
              ESC: Hobbywing Seaking-120A
              Pack: 6S1P 2600mAh 25C LiPo
Prop: ETTI CNC1.4x36, Graupner Carbon 1.6x36, Octura X535(need drive dog style shaft)
              Drive: 2mm piano wire + 4mm shaft

The boat handles pretty well, but don't expect a hull as small as 580mm to maintain stability over 60km/h, especially in choppy water.

I love the flood chamber A LOT, saves big suffer than driving my 830mm Delta Force after it flips over. But it needs adjustment, I attached lead weight 84 grams on the left (inside the chamber) to make it work reliably.

In the fourth out the hull ended up with this:

I guess it must have hitten a rock on the bottom of the pond in one of its divings into the water. It was then fixed with fiberglass + epoxy, now it feels bullet proof. Next step is to get it carbon fiber style painted. For now I have heartache each time I look at its nose. I would recommend to reinforce the nose section as the very first step of your build.

I don't compete, my toys are just for fun. so I added a left turn fin for better left turning capability , it works, but left turn is still a harder work than to turn right, the right mounted rudder should be responsible for this.

Just paint that nose bright yellow! Good for visibility too.

                  Thanks Himalaya,

I have pretty much decided on where i will put everything in the build and will start tonight, the only bit i cant see in your pics is where you located the water pickup?

p.s sad to see the nose gone so early but i like sailr's idea bright yellow nose cone paintwork would actually work really well!

The water inlet is located on the very tail section of the bottom, right beside where the stuffing tube goes out. This area has most chance to "scratch" the water. I ran the tube underneath the battery deck to the ESC at left freeboard for a tidy look.

                    Here's a pic for this.
