Hi Everyone!
My name is Gerard, and I'm relatively new to RC Boating. I have a few boats (BJ 42, 24, and a small self-righting toy V-hull, which was my first boat.
)
I like to build, so I began 3D printing this CAT, and I am pretty impressed with its design and how it's coming out. As you can see, all the sections have been joined, and now I'm in the body work and finishing stage.
For those who are experienced with 3D printing boats, my question is: Will standard prep and painting seal the hull sufficiently, or do I need to coat it with some fiberglass resin to assure it's water tight?
Also, I have tinkered with some calculations to determine motor, battery, ESC and prop size, but I'd like to know what you think. My goal is 75mph.
I have a SeaKing 180 Amp ESC,
A variety of available motors (3660 - 1620kv, 3674 - 1900kv, 4074 - 2650kv, 4082 - 1600kv, 4092 - 2140kv),
And I'm planning on running 6s Batteries.
Thinking of starting with an Oxdean 42mm Hi Rake prop and the 4092 - 2140KV, but I'm not convinced that is the best choice. Am I close, or am I way off here?
Let me know what you think?
TIA,
GT
