Hello to all. Just joined the forum because im getting a electric retrieval boat together. I will go one of two routes. I can pick up a partially built dumas Jolly jay inexpensivelly, it's a small fishing trawler (v shaped hull) 24" long by 8.5" wide. The v shape of the hull will allow it to have conventionnal sea faring abilities. Building a catch cradle is easily done. I would need advice (this is why im here) to select motor (brushed or brushless, esc batteries and prop, gearbox perhaps ?.The other choice is a pusher type tug, eg zippkits twin tuggster. I have heard that the shape of the hull means its slow ? What is the best rout to take. I would like to add that the largest boat i have to recover is a gas scale boat (1/6 scale river patrol boat, 52" long 17" wide and 27lbs. in weight. Also i run my boats on an enclosed pond, so the size of the waves isnt really an issue. Thanks.

The twin Tugster is a great option. I have 2 of them. Speed is not a problem. Great pushers. It can push my 50 inch boats with no problem in high winds. I will say that the propellers and drive system that come with the tug are pointless. You will need to buy new shafts and props if you do get that route.
This one is 6s lol
My Tuggy is one of the most reliable ones in our club lol
