Because of it's small population it is a little backwards but we like it that way. I had a friend from St Petersburg, Florida come and stay a few years ago and he said it reminded him of things in the USA 20 years back in history. The scenery is hard to beat and we have most things the rest of the world has but not the night life that some of the big cities have. If you are young then there are pubs you can drink in until 3 in the morning but they are full of older teenagers and not a nice place to go. Best way is to grab one of the local women and a bottle of your favorite Red, a soft bed, some good music and see where the night takes you. In Douggie case it will be Farm Yard Frolics. Dont you all think it strange the advert is made by a Victorian (mainlander) company, and shows only tourists ?
Where are the local inhabitants .... Hiding under their rocks ?
All debate aside, the place is a step back in time... tranquil and mostly untouched by homo erectus.
Best ever meal of fish and chips(fries) I had was on Wharf at Hobart .. served off a boat.
Girls are wonderfully friendly.. those extra pair of arms sure come in handy when fishing....

Colonial wasnt appropriate as you've evolved a few dozen generations from there.. some took a shine to their sister and you all lost a few spots though...
Lagging behind the evolutionary curve of the big island's homo sapiens.
I think we're taller on average too ?
