    Going Postal

Went to the Post Office today to drop off a package with a prepaid (online from the USPS website) label.
Asked them to scan it in and give me a receipt.
They said that as of today (they took a "class" yesterday) they would but it would cost me $1.30 for the receipt...which eliminated the savings of using the USPS online postage!
    Seriously?

Why do you need a reciept for an online purchase?
Don't you get it via email?

He needed a receipt showing it's out of his hands and now in the hands of the USPS. Without the receipt, a postal worker could keep the box and it would never show that the USPS had received it

Doesn't the post office have to scan it to ship?
I've never asked for a reciept before. Or should I be?

Hmm. I guess at that point I would have just taken out my smartphone and shot a video to confirm it.
Then put on YouTube for everyone to see

The USPS always complains that they lose money every year, and they think by making these little items more expensive would bring back their revenue, it is a joke.
My local PO is one of the bigger ones with Passport service. In the last three years they have only two people behind the counter helping people. This was a six windows counter. What they did was installing a roll of automated machines, one person stands next to it drumming attention from customers , but no one knows how to use them because this person would help each time, no chance to learn. On the other hand, when customers choose not to use the machine, this person STILL STANDS next to the machine while the other two staffers work their A** off. The line, meanwhile, gets longer ......

You guys have it easy try Canada Post...outrageous costs for parcel post...no home delivery in most suburban and rural areas for letters and small items....big boxes for multiple home delivery at street intersections or other sites which get broken into frequently.
