I work as a Inspector Technician of petroleum delivery systems here in Canada. Everything from gas pumps to aircraft refuelers, I inspect them, calibrate them, and certify them as fit for trade in Canada.
I'm a service technician at a boat dealership in Florida. I apply bottom paint, service engines, and water test new and used boats. Also on the weekends I do manatee and scallop tours in Crystal River, FL. My life is nothing but boats.
[QUOTE=Luck as a Constant;581419]Man, that's amazing after all that time you still enjoy it. Good for you man that's awesome
Thanks, it has been a great time to be in the technical field. In college (1978) I started with a computer the size of a desk that used punch cards to run calculations and then had a DOS laptop laid on my desk in 1988. I have seen the electric industry change so much with the introduction of the microprocessor. It has been very interesting to be in an constantly changing industry, but since the government (NERC) is getting their hands on things, I will probably be retiring at about the right time.
I'll bite. I just graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a minor in Economics. Just applied for about 30 jobs any and everywhere from New York to California. Once I get some experience I will definitely be back in the Ohio/Michigan area to explore my true passion of drag racing. Feels like I'm just getting my feet wet and can't wait for the journey of life that lies ahead.
Man, I feel like the odd ball. Everyone is a technician, engineer, contractor etc, all craftsmen. I'm a physical therapist. So there's a new one for the mix. Let me know when you get trigger finger from running your boats too much.
It doesn't matter what you do. As long as you enjoy your work, do it well and it pays the bills (and for boats).. That's what's great about this hobby. God bless you for the work you do helping people!!

Everyone has an area of expertise in which they thrive and blossom .....not everyone finds their niche ...
Some go to Uni or Trades-schools because their daddy did, or their parents worked hard to send them there ..
Other might build houses, paint walls or massage torn muscles .....
Whatever you do, if you enjoy the work and the returns it offers .. stick to it.
