State wildlife officials estimate California's black bear population is about 26,000, an increase from about 10,000 in the 1980s, though some critics question the accuracy of that figure. Brones believes lawmakers will rethink the ban if there is a surge in troublesome bears as the population increases.

I have a friend who has a pair of champion coon hounds, she travels all over the place to coon competitions. It's a blast to head out in the middle of the night with her and the hounds. There is a lot of money in those competitions.
Huskies are no good for hunting, but you should see my greyhound husky cross run down rabbits in the fields! Problem is she starts eating as soon as she catches it.
Doing anything your dog was built to do is fun, you should see mine when they see the harness's come out. Lots of singing and dancing, then hold on tight!

In some states the hoomans are in plague proportions, destroying all vegetation and forcing out wildlife, nesting in tight clustered hives, foraging far afield to feed their young at home.
Not sustainable... time for a cull !

People extending into bear territory? LMAO get north of the 401 once and a while! I completely agree that they have built up the 401 armpit as much as possible, but that is no where near the rest of Canada! Take a trip to New Brunswick, head out to the rockies, try driving the Yellow Head highway across the northern prairies.
Gotta love the warning signs telling you last gas for 100 miles! True sign of population density overload!

Black bears can and do live anywhere and eat everything, but mostly plants, they are not losing their habitat, they are breeding like crazy in Canada!

Bear density in Ontario 20-60 bear per 100kmSQ for most of Ontario! But not along the 401 corridor! And it's higher in Quebec!
Don't know about other countries but the hippies have got it wrong for Canada as far as black bears go. They are as bad as moose in NFLND!
Just too bad you can't eat them! Although selling a couple gallbladders and a hide would be a nice paycheck. Be almost worth getting a bear tag and taking the time off work! Except I won't kill something I won't use as fully. (except politicians! should be year round open season on those filthy things!)
