    How hot is it?

I was born in the heat wave of the early 50's but have never before experienced so many above 100 degree days as this year. While we may disagree about global warming and it's causes, we here in the U.S. are going through a drought and heat wave that has put a damper on everyday life and keeps us cooped up indoors under air conditioning (if we're so blessed) waiting for a break which the weather gurus say may not happen for another 2 months. So in the interest of levity I thought I'd start a "How hot is it?" thread. These are not my own, but caused an involuntary chuckle when heard. I'll give this a push...IT'S SO HOT (how hot is it?)

It's so hot I saw a squirrel putting oil on his nuts

It's so hot even Mitt Romney looks cool (sorry, I couldn't resist)

First off, the lyrics to Jackson go like this: "We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout." The reference was to passion, not to temperature.....

That said, when Texas had a heat wave and severe drought in 2011, with nearly 100 days in a row above 100*F and 25% of normal rainfall, no one seemed to care. I heard the comment "it's just Texas, let them deal". I guess from an international perspective one could say "It's just the US"....

j/k, I do feel your pain. "It was so hot that we Texans couldn't find a muddy hoofprint to drink out of..."

You'll care when the prices of all your groceries are much higher in price. And the ethanol gas you burn is at $4 per gallon.

The strange thing is that its been rather mild here in the Dallas area this summer. Especially compared to last year.

Hey Sun!! I live in the "Rock" 50 miles south as you are probably aware, its brutal almost every day and the humidity takes it from 103-107* ambient and makes it feel like 112-115*

I had to prop down some of my boats with the water surface temps around 80*.....................I think I remember you running some of the rivers up there and the water is probably 65-70*.............??

Thanks Fluid for pointing out that faux pas, (I'll remove it) and for that Texas punchline. Stadium, this isn't meant to be a controversial thread, just a jovial attempt to lighten the atmosphere. I'll try again...

It is so hot Eric Holder is smuggling water pistols (thx,|Jay Leno) ...or

It's so hot the trees are whistling for the dogs. Ha ha.... huh?

Make-a -wake: the Buffalo is low and pee warm - not an enticing combination to the tourists, I'm afraid. And I've spent the last couple of months designing and building a passive solar greenhouse which I know must sound like I'm a glutton for punishment. But some day it will cool back down and I hope to have real tomatoes during the winter instead of those flavorless, hard, imitation types they typically offer. Have patience, relief will come!
