Easter.
Are you aware the Christian resurrection 'Easter' is based upon a 2800 year old Chinese festival called 'tomb cleaning' day, where ppl go to their ancestors tombs to clean out the cobwebs etc, and families get to enjoy a meal with memories... always held 4or5 April as based upon solar calendar.. Easter Friday..
Am I Christian ?.. Im whatever religion serves hot food and cold beer if there's an afterlife.

Cleaning out my tomb would be another's task, mate.
Admittedly, the idea of a tomb disturbs me.. raiders could steal the mechanical bits and sell them to metal merchants .. leaving me without a leg to stand on !

Doc, once again I am astounded with your general knowledge of all things Tasmanian.

Here is a letter from my mother she sent to me with my Easter card and I would like to share it with you...

Dear Son,

I'm writing this letter slow because I know you can't read fast. We don't live where we did when you left home. Your dad read in the newspaper that most accidents happen within 20kms from your home, so we moved. I won't be able to send you the address because the last Tasmanian family that lived here took the house numbers when they moved so that they wouldn't have to change their address.

This place is really nice. It even has a washing machine. I'm not sure it works so well though: last week I put a load in and pulled the chain and haven't seen them since. The weather isn't bad here. It only rained twice last week; the first time for three days and the second time for four days.

About that coat you wanted me to send you, your Uncle Stanley said it would be too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets. John locked his keys in the car yesterday. We were really worried because it took him two hours to get me and your father out.

Your sister had a baby this morning; but I haven't found out what it is yet so I don't know if your an aunt or an uncle. The baby looks just like your brother...

Uncle Ted fell in a whiskey vat last week. Some men tried to pull him out but he fought them off playfully and drowned. We had him cremated and he burned for three days.

Three of your friends went off a bridge in a ute. Ralph was driving. He rolled down the window and swam to safety. Your other two friends were in the back. They drowned because they couldn't get the tailgate down.

There isn't much more news at this time. Nothing much has happened.

I have just come back from burning incense at the lake. Burning Hydra 240 lv to be more precise. First one in about 12 months now (so long in fact that I thought I was losing my touch). It was quite inspiring to see all that smoke come out of the hull just as the boat returned to within a few meters of the shore. It had a mystical feel about it and made me all warm and fuzzy inside to see that smoke drift across the lake in the gentle morning breeze. Ahh it's good to be alive.

Thanks for The Stairway To Heaven link Douggie. I listened to that and several other songs from around that era. Man we were lucky then. There were so many great musicians back then. I could have followed links for hours.
