Democarcy at work is an oxymoron.. at least with a dictatorship you know who to hate ! ...

There are so many factions in and under in government that true progress and prosperity is limited to those few we fools vote to represent us

I think your all missing the point here. The volt production got pulled back because THEY DIDNT SELL. You can blame politicians etc etc but the fact it, the american public didnt see the value in the vehicle so they didnt buy it. Which is the WHOLE problem when it comes to electric cars.

Yes, in general people want to be more environmentally responsible. But look at our society. It is based almost %100 on convenience. If that car isnt as easy to use and convenient as its hybrid or gas counterpart people wont buy it.

As a lover of electric RC's I am NOT automatically into electric vehicles. I think the real problems with them get skimmed over because there is no tail pipe directly on the vehicle. But guess when, ALL energy HAS to come from somewhere. If everyone in america plugged in their electric cars at night... where do you think the extra power would have to come from? COAL. America relies heavily on coal for power production. Essentially your transferring the pollution from one place to another, overloading an already grossly overloaded power grid in the process. I love that people actually have the idea that if they can't SEE bad stuff, Bad stuff doesnt happen. Yet there is nothing further from the truth.

The simple fact of the matter is that a clean burning diesel engine is the MOST efficient way to move a vehicle on the planet. In terms of power produced per unit of energy burned (also taking into consideration WHERE that energy comes from) a diesel scores the highest. With clean diesels getting better and better, and cleaner, every year people have to stop thinking of electricity as free and start looking at the processes behind moving a vehicle from A to B. WHERE does the energy come from? And how much raw material does it take to get you where your going.

I was able to test drive a Chevy Volt for a day. The power was surprising when on the battery, but it would only go 32 miles on a charge. It would then change over to a gas engine that turned a generator to continue operation. Not planning on spending 40,000 on one.
