    Chevy killing the Volt?

Heard on the news the volt will be no longer. Personally I didn't like the look of the final product.

When the Volt was first shown as a concept, it was quite a looker. Then once it came to market it was changed to a plain Jane family car.

I read that they are just "reducing production" for a few weeks......apparently it happens to most models at one time or another......but this seems to be really early!

I talked to a guy at the autoshow locally and he said the biggest problem with them was the $.And that was dependant on the battery. If they could get enough sold they could drastically reduce battery price, but until then? I don't remember what the price of the Volt is but do remember thinking WOW that's a lot of gas.

such a BS car. Anyone who can afford that thing can afford gas... therefore it's pointless. Wanna save $ on gas, get a little diesel. Not too many choices here in the U.S. though.

There is more to it than affording gas. Why do we play with electric boats? Lots of the same reasons I like electric cars.

                I'd like to do this

These cars will never make it if they cant start mass producing them for less coin. There's no way I'll ever spend 40 grand on any car, let alone one as ugly as a Volt. Hybrids in my mind are a better option.
I'm all for reducing emissions, but unless these cars start selling like mad, it ain't even gonna put a dent in our greenhouse gas problems.
this is one of my favs though. 0-60 in 1.6 seconds. quicker than a Bugatti Veyron. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tay2j...eature=related

Speaking of crappy American cars, look at the ford focus. What a toilet. American manufacturers should stick with trucks and leave cars alone.

Vw carries the Tdi Jetta, passat, and Toureg. i get 50+ mpg on my Jetta.. Bmw offers a diesel in several models, Mercedes offer several models with diesel and Gm is offering a Cruse diesel next year with a 50+ mpg i drive from Ny to Ft lauderdale on 2 tanks of fuel.Driving at 65mph. cant beat that..

The GM Cruze is made in Au. nice little car.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Cruze

Toyota are investing wads of capital into electric vehicles... try this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3v-mb7Uhdk

3.8L ( 1US Gal) takes my car 35 miles.. for @$5US.. and the same as electric car would consume ~12KW of electrical energy.. is that energy free ?.. of course not.. out here in Au electricity is now ~38c per KW .. costs ~$4 as electric travel... but as 'LPG' and wind power stations increase charges the cost will rise also.
Electric Vs Petroleum is not about cost saving, it's about saving the environment for my daughter's kids .

Yeah, but they're marketed that way in the U.S. Plus we got conservative politicians trying to convince the public that there are no such thing as greenhouse gasses. The sad part is... they believe it.
