Having been through two major hurricanes in the past six years - Rita and Ike - I know what can happen. Batten down if you are in a safe place, evac if not (although it's getting kinda late for the latter). Stock up on non-perishable food and water, batteries for lights, gasoline, and camp fuel if you have a camp stove. Some parts of Houston were without power for four weeks after Ike....good luck!

Lost power at 1:20 pm. Not sure why as the wind isn't strong yet. Waited a while then hooked up the generator to all the important stuff - computer, tv's, refrigerator, freezer, and beer fridge - good to go!

I have been keeping a close eye on the Dominion power outage map So far, all I have had were milisecond power blinks, no outages. Chuck, If the need arises, you're all welcome to wait it out here.
Keep safe my brothers. I hope damage is minimal. I'm concerned about the storm surge.
Sorry for the late reply. Power came back on at 9 last night. Now I have to fix the neighbors fence so I can let the dogs out. 2 sections came down because the posts were rotted.
