Yes we do Douggie. And it was enough to sustain our Government programs with a surplus capital up until the liberals decided to create entitlements that didnt end. There have been generations of people on public money. Not just lifetimes, another generation behind the first raised on welfare with the expectation of continueing to recieve benefits. We have to create limits as to what people can receive. And it should be accross the board. Social Security benefits for a limited time. Paying out what you actually payed in with interest. No more lifetime disability payments. Survivor benefits cannot be more or payed longer then the maximum amount the original contributor payed into their account. No more free rides. Pay in. Get something out. Pay nothing. You get nothing.

The damn liberals have created a voter base, using federal tax payer dollars no less!!!!, over the decades to further their social engineering plan of a bonded or slave group that has lost their will to take responsibility for themselves. We see it in action every election. Talk of cutting entitlements brings them out in droves to vote. When they get threatened they participate. When their taken care of they lay low and live the life they feel they have been dealt. Google it. Search the topic. There is volumes of this stuff on the net.

An added note about the debt limit crisis that may escape some of you. All of the rhetoric beeing spouted and plastered all over the media between the parties is just a gross amount debate. The parties are argueing on how much money. Not one has spoke to what programs are going to be cut or increased. The repubs want no new taxes. The demos want no cuts to entitlements. Thats it in a nutshell. But you wont hear that on the news. And if you even doubt this for a second here is a little "proof". http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_914272.html

John, you are correct in many of your observations. The only claim I have ever made on the government in Canada is to pay for my due right to old age pension funds which I paid into all my working life and yes since I am now retired I have to pay a monthly fee into medical inurance which is mandatory for all Canadian citizens, unless that they are the ones that abuse the system.

All any of these threads ever lead to is more finger pointing. Pick a side and bitch and moan about the other. Reminds me of the government everyone so despises.

Thats one perspective. Bitching without a solution. This is just a forum to vent. Or present ones perspective. If I had the conviction or desire then politics would be my goal. However that raises the issue of what does it matter what I opine since it effects nothing. Demonstrating my view points? That it does. I am not out to convince anyone. I assume all of you out there are intelligent. What I say wont sway you. Anyone can post such diatribe as mine. Dont hold my opinion against me and I will offer you the same respect. Thats where it all starts. Because thats where it should begin.

I have great distain for those who perform supposed benign acts to persuade the masses to their betterment. Its called control no matter the morality one attaches to it. No matter whether conservative or liberal. Also I have great confidence in the fact that mankind is incapable of making commitments to its own salvation on a factual base Vs an emotional one, so therefore the natural occurring events due to chaos or cataclysm are our destiny to failure simply as a species. In other words we wont make it too much farther down the evolutionary scale. We condemmed ourselves by simply failing to reach an encompassing guidline all of us should follow. Doesnt matter if its to the left or the right. The common denominator is we choose to polarize. We could take a lesson from those creatures who do thrive on this great planet over the eons. But we are just too smart. Right?

I will enter this issue once more, you are not much better off than Greece or most other countries but the great majority of you are hard working individuals and do not ask for handouts.....your politicans are very suspect though in their moral character and behaviour....just to run for any office costs a ton of dough and backhand deals.

I do not agree with that for the most part.
I now a LOT of lazy worthless people that would like nothing more than to collect unemployment and milk it for all that it is worth.
All politicians are full of B.S. I dont even like a person who would desire to be a politician.
