I wonder what everyone thinks about H1 and it's race in Dubai? Yes, each team get's 100k. What happens if they lose that race site?

My thoughts are this, it will end Unlimited racing in the end.....

The Arabs now have 4 drag cars in NHRA....2 TF, 1FC, 1PS and 1 Motorcycle. Would you drive for someone that may believe in killing you?

I must admit that I am not well up on the subject, but why not have a H1 race abroad, and Dubai is growing a great boat racing heritage (Qatar too) having hosted F1 and offshore races there for many years and having several successful teams in the various championships, the progression to hydros seems obvious. At a time when even big teams like bud are quiting Hydro racing having multinational interest and media coverage rather than just in the states has got to be a good thing for the sponsors which is in turn good for the teams, the 100k probably just covers the cost of flying the boats, crew and equipment out there in order to get a decent team turn out, as I suspect many couldn't afford to or couldn't justify the costs on their own dollar. I guess if they lose the site which I don't see happening as it has been used by F1 and offshore boats for years, the status quo will be maintained and the races will remain all in the states, oh dear it didn't work, nothing ventured nothing gained, but I don't see the loss either way, and I sure as hell don't see how it will be the end of unlimited racing.

Drag racing is a north American thing, sure its done all over the world we have several strips here but I don't know of anywhere where it is as mainstream or popular as it is in the states or even taken seriously by the masses and quite frankly I suspect that if you want to compete at the top level it HAS to be done in the states, while a great time would be a world record on any strip worldwide I suspect having the top dog TF rail, while bringing a huge grin to your face and making your knees knock, wouldn't be nearly as fun if the next fastest guy in the country was half a second slower, rather than having several guys at the same meet all within a tenth. I believe the N in NHRA stands for national so there would have to be an American citizen on the team to go and pick up the trophy should they win I guess . more competition is good for the teams and if their any good (or really bad) its good for the spectators too. No I wouldn't drive for someone who I thought may believe in killing me, for one thing it would be terribly easy for him to succeed and for it to look like an accident. Have you ever been to the middle east, I haven't yet next year I hope, but my sister lives over there and she assures me that not everyone has a belt made from sticks of dynamite and a satchel full of hand grenades, apparently the average man (or woman in some middle eastern countries) on the street is as kind, courteous, polite and against murder as you or I, I would wager that there are many more religious fundamentalist extremists in America than there are in Dubai.

Its probably just paid out of the tax $$ us Americans give them as assistance (like they need it) so its no big deal, bring our troops home to protect our borders and cut off all assistance to foreign countries that stab us in the back !!

Thanks for the reminder on Pearl Harbor... I think I read somewhere that there was quite a bit of discussion by the Middle East at that time prior to their attack on Hawaii...something to do with the best way to disguise their ships, planes and faces so they appear Japanese..

Not sure how many of the 911 guys were from Dubai though....
