    Audiophile recordings

I'm considering building another set of speakers and modifying some existing ones.
What audiophile recordings would you guys recommend? I'm looking for ones that aren't "over-engineered" and have nice clear vocals and instrumentation.
What are some of you guy's recommendations?

I agree with Mark Knopfler. Not familiar with the others.

        Domwilson.

We may assume the other equipment, except the speakers, is high-end ?
        Music, on what ?
        CD ?

I use older equipment for the signal source both analog (vinyl and R2R), and CD.
Would prefer CD recommendations for the time being. Not really critical at this point.

"Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms" is a good CD with clarity and instrumentation.

Also Steely Dan has been pretty good.

Dom, here is another oldie to break out.

                  Tears for fears - elemental.

Track 1 and 3 sound pretty wild on a high end setup.

Actually many records are audiophile but some recordings are fantastic. What kind of music do you like?
I show you my equipment, Sony CD player, NAD preamp, NAD amplifier, NAD tuner and Technics Vinyl turntable.
Speakers are home made : GAMMA LA1231 ALNICO boomers, AUDAX midrange and FOSTEX tweeters. I worked a long time on filters to be perfect

Alfa, sounds like a pretty cool setup. I use to have some old NAD equipment. Was good stuff.

I primarily listen to Old school R&B and classis rock. But I sometimes listen to the old "swooners" Like Tony Bennet, Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole , some Jazz and some classical. Can't quite get the ear for Country or Western.

Thank you. Yes, Nad electronics sound fantastic, very musical and what a punch !!
                          Continious power = 2 x 100 Watts and maximum dynamic power = 2 x 800 Watts

Here is a real audiophile record and a nice blues music CD, one of the best : Joe Louis Walker "In the Morning". If you can find this record buy it, you won' t regret

I built these two speakers using Fostex full range drivers. Plans included with Fostex speakers. Imaging is verygood when mounted on stands.
