Funny. Now we have to work on getting him out of office the next time around.Steven Vaccaro

You're right. We need a Republican White house again. Then we can start two more wars, raise the national debt another 4 or 5 trillion, bankrupt the economy, start torturing again, and attack the civil liberties we used to enjoy by enacting a Patriot Act II. You'll love this sequel.

keep telling you guys that your president is nothing but a spokes person
same as our prime minister
others make the policies, they just announce them,if the policy turns out to be a dud they blame the spokes person and get a new oneComment

we're in a recession...
corporations are sitting on the largest cash stockpiles since the great depression.
unemployment is at 9-15% by some estimates, people have lost a lot of value in their houses...
how do we resurrect an economy? there has to be spending...who's going to spend? the government...businesses aren't going to. it makes no sense for them, and people dont have the money.
take a history class and look into the late 1930's. talking heads on the radio will tell you we're going to be porked by the largest tax increase in history...in-fact, it pales in comparison to the taxes of that day. 70% income tax. we spent twice as much adjusted for inflation back then, as we have now. and that was a precurser for 60 years of growth, and we paid down the debt considerably.
and dont forget posse comitatus. bush basically defied the constitution in changing that one.
i dont care much for the whole democrat vs. republican argument, i like to argue facts. and not many people know them. the fact is, obama has done a lot of stuff since being elected. you might not like the spending, and thats fine, you're entitled to your opinion, but knowing how the economy, and the market works, i do favor most of the spending. love him or hate him...he's getting stuff done.Comment

Governments don't create jobs... Businesses do. And all that money that the Government is paying the people they do employ, that's coming from someone elses pocket. They don't "generate" a dime... they take, and redistribute as they see necessary, with all the inefficiency and lack of forthought possible.
You want people to spend money.... let them keep more of what they earn, then they'll have more to spend.
You are right... taxes were really high back then... As the taxes have gone down, the economy, and more importantly Government Revenues, go up. It's in the records... not just a theory, as our President would have you think.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

When the original Reagan tax cuts were approved but made effective on Jan 1, 1982 businesses for the rest of the year STOPPED as much as possible, causing a bit of a recession. January 1 the floodgates opened, and the economy turned around almost overnight.
When the Obama tax increases were approved but made effective Jan 1, 2011, businesses started doing all they could NOW so that they could pull in the income BEFORE the new wave of taxes increased.
My guess is that there's going to be a steamroller squashing the economy starting around January. Too bad the election will be in November

I am not going to get into the liberal and conservative debate but as an outsider I see that Obama has not focussed his attention to the economy woes. The problem is the Republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot (Sarah antics, tea party) and at this stage their is no credible party leader.

Honestly, I think this depends on which media outlet you listen to. The "Spin" going on in the media these days is quite dizzying, and frankly, never very accurate to what is really happening.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

As an owner of 2 small businesses with employees I can guarantee you one thing, if taxes go up I will not be hiring more help.
Besides myself, I used to have another full time jeweler in the store. When the crap hit the fan with the economy, he left and I haven't looked for a replacement. Things are just to slow to justify it. You can't convince me that raising taxes is going to make things better.Steven Vaccaro
