    LED/LCD versus Plasma TV sets

I am bored again and I wish to offer a few pearls of wisdom or nonscense. I recently moved and had to give up my 34" Sony XBR CRT telly...way too large in depth for my new humble abode. Like the moron that I am I said Lcd and purchased a Sony 32" XBR......that was a mistake....not bad viewing on centre ...awfull off centre ....after 6 months I said moron look at plasma ....purchased a 42" Panasonic PLASMA and wow...great picture and black detail to die for etc. The Sony will now reside in my bedroom for viewing X rated movies.

usually lcd's have a wider viewing angle than plasmas. Lcd's are rapidly replacing plasma TVs as well. However, i have 1 of each and like both.

All that tv stuff makes my head spin. I was searching for one a while back, read reviews on all of them and it seemed everything had good and bad reviews. So I upped and visted a couple of stores and just picked what was best to my eye.

Plasma does have a good picture, but uses a lot more watts, produces more heat than LCD and do not seem to last as long.

That is true..300 watts for my 42" Plasma and 100 watts for my 32" LCD and yes plasma does generate more heat. There are advantages to both technologies but in my humble opinion Plasma viewed in HD wins on picture quality but neither were as good as my 34" Sony XBR CRT based HD telly. It took 2 strong men and a boy to move that monster though

I gave up reading about it and after seeing results of thrown Wii remotes, I gave up and bought a projector. 124" HD screen, 5.1 surround and Call of Duty. Now the screen is too big and CoD makes me sick after an hour of playing.... Feels like motion sickness, messes with your head.

No *!***!***!***!**, that size would give me a complex!

An update, after 3 weeks of burn in on repeats of X rated movies. This telly is awesome. I adjusted the THX calibrated mode with my own feeble hands with a calibration disc...blown away and many morons who have viewed the picture say the same ...Panasonic,well done and lads do not judge a picture on the fry a fly quality that all big box stores setup their tellys on...the model is a Panosonic TC-P42G25..... Plasma rocks.

Douggie I picked up a Panasonic P42G10A plasma a few months ago and I love it!!! Looked at the LCDs as well, but preferred the picture compared with any LCD except the big $$$ ones. And it came with a free twin tuner HDD recorder

I had that 34" Sony XBR CRT and many still today call it the best TV ever made. However; the new Sony XBRs don't match up. When I replaced the Sony I went with a 46" 1080P Samsung LCD - what a great TV. The plazma pictures are great but have their own problems down the road. My bet is on the LEDs, I think they will take over the market.
