Interesting. As electric boaters we can see that with about 3 pounds we can have a system that generates about 1hp for bursts. Do you think the extra weight is worth it?

        Steven,

The Tour bikes have a minimum weight of something like 15lbs.. and many have to ADD weight to get to that point, so I'm wondering just how much additional weight this would actually add..

As an avid biker (30-miles a day several days a week back and forth to work), I am certain that having something to supply an additional couple of hundred watts of power would make it much easier to accellerate, etc.

Would love to see this system up close. It's facinating. Funny how some of the most inventive and creative ideas come from total cheaters!!

          Interesting

Human power: I have heard that a human is capable of delivering about 1/10 HP on a continuous basis, that is 75 watts.
1/10 of that is 7.5 watts, or 3s at .7 amps for an hour. With 50% efficiency, that would give you a %5 advantage for an hour! How much lipo can you fit in the frame of a bike? This is all based on 1/10 HP or 75 watts.

Darin, would you have an estimate of how much power goes into the pedals to be converted to propulsion of a professional cyclist? A 5% edge would be big in that sport I would think.

did I do that math correctly?
