You know on some levels that actually could be a VERY good thing. But if its good for America it will be rendered a casualty by the supreme court. Not because its fair to all of course.

There was a very good reason the founding fathers ruled out this kind of silliness. We don't live in Helenistic Greece.

I lived in Alaska when Gravel was Senator......that's enough of an "endorsement" for me - no thanks....

We do have the final vote. We need to teach children to believe and learn about the system. So they can make informed choices. And kick some of these bums out of office.

The idea may look good but I see a few big problems...The Media's influence, the complexities of some issues, Education, and the mob mentality that many have.

May I remind you that the People's Republic of China is also a Republic as was the USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republics).

To be perfectly accurate, what we have in the US is actually a Representative Democracy. We are a Republic due to the fact that we are not ruled by a monarchy. But we select the leaders of our Republic using democratic elections. The Founding Fathers were pushing back against the ruling monarchy of Britain when they formed the US as a Republic.

As far as government by ballot initiative goes, no thanks. Look at the disaster that is California and you will see the result of this siren song.

They never taught me that. I know we're in a Democratic Republic. The Media and Politicians want you (not me) to think your in a democracy (where the mASSES rule) Kinda reminds me of a tea party convention. We just need to omit decisions and laws made in the last 10 years and our Republic will be fine. Furthermore, if you noticed there was no comments preceding or following the link. Which means I was merely using it at a barometer for "your input" not my support of it, But of course you wouldn't have known that, so your forgiven ;-)

Everytime I read you posting something like that, all I can think is that you are a victim of a serious case of Media Blitz Syndrome...

Dude... don't believe everything you read or hear on CNN, MSNBC, or even FOX for that matter...

Something needs to happen or we'll continue receiving the screwing of a lifetime. We could start by making those jokers personally responsible for their actions/inactions.

I saw this in an email the other day. This is something that those on the Left and those on the Right should agree upon. A proposed 28th ammendment to the US Constitution. Short and sweet:

Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.

How about it boys and girls? Is this a good start?

                              OK, I'll bite.

Why don't they want you to think you're in a democracy? That site you linked to obviously thinks the USA should change to become one.

Why do the media and politicians (is that redundant?) want me to change my mind?

Or, was that "you" you given a generic term referring to the masses?

As I recall, the left screamed bloody murder when a President was elected with a minority of popular votes but a majority of electoral votes. Did they forget that the previous election put a man in office with almost 2/3 of the country NOT wanting him there?
