    FCC Fairness Doctrine.

When I studied telecommunications in school, one of the subjects discussed was the FCC fairness doctrine. It was based on the assumption that broadcasters were supposed to inform and not inflame the public. http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0212-03.htm How would such a doctrine fare in today's environment?

I think forums do more to enflame things than broadcasters.

What one person thinks is garbage is gospel to another - the basic premise must be tolerance of speech.

    In both directions.

I personally consider a lot of the crap coming out of NPR to be enflammatory drivel, hate speech at its worst. Or consider the hate speech that the administration uses towards Fox News, saying they aren't a credible news source simply because they disagree with the content of a handful of entertainment personalities there.

    See the problem?
