Woman loses health insurance for smiling on Facebook

Facebook can be a double-edged sword, a Canadian woman learned when an insurance company cut her health benefits, claiming she was healthy after seeing pictures of her smiling in bikini at the beach.Nathalie Blanchard, 29, took long-term sick leave from her job at IBM in Bromont, Quebec, more than a...

Nothing to do with our Health care system...its refering to her insurance from her employer...two different things.

She lost her privately paid coverage through a company called Manulife:

And as has been exhaustively detailed, NONE of the proposed US Health Care Reform plans evenly closely imitates the Canadian plan. So why people keep saying it does to me demonstrates a willing ignorance of the facts.

What the story does show is that even in places with publicly funded health care a p[rovate plan will do ANYTHING they can to wiggle out of paying for actual coverage. When corporate profit is the sole objective of a company as opposed to actually paying benefits then this is the natural result.

SHE'S A FRAUD! When people commit fraud, they SHOULD go to jail! Matters not whether it's corporate, private, or public insurance. SHE'S BILKING THE INSURANCE PROVIDER.

Personally, I think they were nice letting her off without taking it to court.

So depressed people can't have a bright moment? Do you know the definition of clinical depression? Being depressed does not mean you cannot smile or enjoy some things.

Andy, you have zero proof or experience to declare any such thing. Or perhaps you are hiding the fact that you either:

                      A) have ALL the details and information of this case

                      or

                      B) Have an MD degree and are qualified to make such a determination.

That I agree with a 100% and she definitely got what she deserved , Her coverage gave her a biweekly paycheck to live off of and basically go on an extended holiday . I work for a company with over 1000 employees and see this abuse of our company medical benefits all the time . woman are the biggest abusers of stress leave , what a load of crap that usually is . you get to stay at home with full pay usually get one week of full $$$$ for every year you have worked there in our coverage

In 26 years of work I used ours for the first time 4 years ago when I missed a step on our fifth wheel and broke both the fibula and tibula in my left leg and had to get it operated on and a steel plate put in , even though I was given 12 weeks off I felt good enough to start back to work after 7 weeks

Actually because of different values that society places on genders, woman do suffer stress and depression at a higher rate then men. In addition, Lupis, a disease of the autoimmune system, affects women more than men. So what does Lupis have to do with this? One of the main causes of Lupis is stress.
