Sorry guys, your litigation procedures are nuts. What happens when little Jimmy at the age of 8 falls off his dining room chair and bangs his head on the floor and also breaks his arm. Sue the chair manufacturer.

Yep and why wasn't the manufacturer of the balls sued or the guys who planted the grass or the people watching for encouraging him to play?

They need to sue the batter, for improper use of a batting device and maybe to pitcher too.

How about we sue the farmer whom grew the hops and corn that made beer and whiskey when someone dies on the road from a drinking accident!

That is why power tools come with 10 pages of warnings and 1 page of actual instructions.

People these days don't want to take responsibility for their actions. Granted in some cases it may be someone else's fault. But in this case and others that are similar, it takes a deep long stretch of the imagination to find fault with the manufacturer.

$750,000 in lost wages? Was he supporting his parents?

The pitcher's family were the plaintifs - he's dead.

Thank God Texas enacted some tort reform laws. They aren't perfect, but they have resulted in far fewer frivilous suits. One result is lower rates at the physician's office because malpractice insurance is lower for the doctors. Still a long way to go though.

On average they say that a pitcher has only 400 milliseconds to react to a baseball.
The pitcher who died had on 376 milliseconds.

The way I look at it, was it not the players choice to play the game? If so, how in the hell can the parent sue anyone? Thats almost as bad as the parents of a football player suing the coach because their son died at football practice.

usually with things like this juries award money not on a logical view point but an emotional one
