Anytime, I hear people comparing any of our present or past Presidents to any dictator, I fall back on some fruitful words: "Don't not engage psychotic people in logical arguments" Our President, do not have carte blanche, he is buffered by the senate and congress, also our second amendment (The right to resist the Borg).Samuel Johnson - “An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.” William Cooper "listen to everything, read everything, and believe nothing unless you can prove it in your own research!"Comment

Another thing, there is nothing Obama can our could do that will equated to this treasonous act called the PATRIOT ACT. The curtains closed on that one. Followed by the most imfamous words ever spoken " The Constitution is just a piece of paper" GWB.Last edited by RCprince; 09-01-2009, 05:56 PM.Samuel Johnson - “An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.” William Cooper "listen to everything, read everything, and believe nothing unless you can prove it in your own research!"Comment

I think it's pretty common for politicians hoping to be elected to promise "change", I don't think this is particularly unusual. I guess a lot of them could be compared to Hitler on that basis.
Oh, and thanks Rcprince, the Borg reference cracked me upComment

I could not agree more on the Patriot act statement. What a huge slap to Americans.
Obama could never do some of the things Hitler did, thats for sure. Hitler eliminated Unemployment, and raised significantly the economic well being of all Germans.....Like to see Obama do that.
And Hitler did that all before invading Poland 70 years ago today.Comment

Change is here! You better change your out look on life, you better change to realized we are a country with removed borders (GHW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc7i0wCFf8g) and he Did say "And when We Will Be". Change been here from the foundation of this Nation, when don't sell Blacks anymore, Women are no longer relegated to the kitchen...et'al. But the change many of us failed to see years ago, was the homogenization or our rights as living Human beings with Corporations. Obama is just the Charles Atlas, holding up the world that everyone helped make before him, and so the other Presidents after him will do the same.
We have been, and were, and continue to be seduced by commercialism and materialism for the last 60 years. Our idolization of things; material possessions. Have kept us anchored in complacency, with no way to navigate the dire straits we are in now. So lets not blame ourselves for lung cancer, but the cigarette manufacturer who made cigarettes so irresistible. As a Nation we have the capacity to know, and the wherewithal to do something, but we compromise everyday because none is willing to sacrifice willingly to truly live free. My dad always told me "you can't get something from nothing".
We sit mesmerized by Politicians year in and year out saying the same sh##! Quite frankly we are willing participants. So, cie la vie!Samuel Johnson - “An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.” William Cooper "listen to everything, read everything, and believe nothing unless you can prove it in your own research!"Comment

As far back as I can remember, Almost all politicians run on a platform of change in one form or another. As GW said in one of his enlightened moments,
"When candidates promise "change" they're just giving voters what they want to hear, he said, implying that they don't necessarily mean it."
As RCPrince said, Consumerism has been around for a long time. Even one of the most popular R&B groups tried to point it out that it was a problem.
We are constantly being programmed to purchase. Walmart is exploiting that bigtime right now with ads that suggest such and such savings over a year on useless items we wouldn't normally purchase in the first place.
We are not only the solution but a part of the problem.Government Moto:
