I pay for it, so I pick it out. Even made sure to have 2 rooms for the Hobby stuff, and a decent shed! On a nice little fishing/FE lake as well I might add!

I'm pretty lucky, my wife was in agreement with our priorities for a 300 gal reef tank, hobby room (leave room for sewing stuff), and a good layout for a home theater.

Big house I rent from the family, We (Me, Wife and 8.5yo girl) all live upstairs, except I must shower downstairs. Down there I have the big workshop/brewery and we all get to use the lower lounge and spare room. (boat storage and drying)

My workshop will get a lot bigger when Dad retires and moves a load of his craap out to his place.

My wife found our house in the spring. 1300+ sq ft of living space (of which > 50% is even split between kitchen and living room). 1200+ sq ft of shop space.

The house used to belong to a machinist.

The shop is in two sections, 360+ sq ft of actual machine shop with power every 4' along the wall at workbench height, 8 ceiling outlets, and dedicated own distribution panel. Also includes two welder outlets.

The 800+ sq ft portion of the shop is a 4-car garage, but right now it holds my boat, my car, and some boxes that she hasn't unpacked yet. Her car sits outside, waiting for the boxes to be emptied. It also has 12' ceiling that I hang models from, with 4 different lighting zones (each zone has 4 outlets).

Between the two sections are doors that open 12' wide and 7' high, so I can drive in to load stuff up for a day of playing. The flying field is a 5-minute drive. The access road to the pond is directly across from my one driveway.

All my airplane models except those I'm actually working on live in the larger shop (and a friend's too, since he doesn't have enough room for his toys). The smaller shop holds current projects and my boats.

It's perfect for me. It's perfect for her.

Sounds like an awesome setup, good score!
Anybody else like me have new cars sitting in the driveway and the garage is full of junk.

Looked at a few houses, some I liked she didn't, lots she liked I didn't, then we saw one we both loved, and that was that.

One thing I loved about her when we were house shopping was that she was able to see past stupid stuff like paint. The house we bought has an awesome layout, and is a good size (for a starter home). The previous owners must have been on crack when picking colours tho, lol. Needless to say, after $1400 CAD in paint, home is perfect.

I have a single car garage right now (again, starter home), and there will never be a car parked inside it. Between all my tools, shelving, workshop area, and motorcycle, there's just no room. Luckily it's all very neat and tidy. Can't stand a dirty shop/garage.
