That looks like a great boat and I'd love to have one but I just don't get the whole bass fishing thing its not something we do over here. Why do they all have speedboats with big outboards on the back? Around here inshore fishing boats are displacement boats either man powered or with small outboards or electric motors, doesn't a fast boat with a big outboard scare the fish off? I've been thrown off a couple of local lakes myself because the fishermen complained that my FEs were scarring off the fish and worm drowning is a much more popular pastime than FE boating and they pay through the nose for lakes, I can't even run my FE boats at this lake any more.
It's Campbell's Lake for fracks sake and I cant run a fast boat there, what is this country coming to?
I can tell you we have some of the fastest and best handling hulls out there for there size. Running a 18 foot bass boat in the 80s takes some driving...mine only clocks around 70...no matter what hull you have. You have to learn to read the water 1/4 mile out.
Go to Truman lake and you are running 50 mph thru the tree channels and then you meet another boat and the channel is only 15 foot wide....you can give high 5s with the other fisherman we are so close. I usually pull back.
so is it first one back with a fish wins, biggest fish in an hour (or whatever time limit) or biggest fish of the day wins? are you not allowed to fish within a certain distance of another fisherman that has already anchored?
5 fish per day largest weight of bag wins over 1 or 2 day period and you also can win Big Bass of the day usually worth a nice chunk of $.
No anchoring, no getting out of the boat on to land. Livewells inspected before you leave.
You pick a number and that is how you leave the weigh in dock or area. All fish are released and penalty for any dead fish and 1# penalty for ANY late check in...that is 1# per minute you are late.
GPS has done wonders. I fished one on Greers Ferry lake In Arkansas and friggin got lost on the water. MAde it back in time but cut my fishing time way back. Now with GPS we just crank it and run. You have to time it all.
The hard part is you NEVER know what your competition is doing until you get back. Then you talk while waiting to dock and weigh in. Some talk and some won't.
It is fun and can pay very well.
Most are running 19-20 boats with 225 mercs on them...jack plates and foot throttles and your trim buttons on the steering wheel. Very very few accidents....you do have to know your boat and read the water well...the third hop off waves is known as the stuffer. Never did it but spun mine out at around 50mph and cracked 2 ribs with the throttle lever.
You are also hooked to a kill swtich that you have to prove when exiting...they make you pull it to see if it works.

what do u think there response would be seeing this comming past at 130mph?
for those of you in maryland u may know this bar!
Jeff, what is a livewell, a fishtank? used to have one of them in my bedroom, or is it that red spinney thing?
Maxx, they would probably cast at you like they do my FEs which I would guess does a lot less damage if the line goes into the prop but would hurt a lot more if you get 2oz of lead and a hook in the face at 130mph, I would give my left leg for a boat like that and a place to keep it, is it yours?
Paul, yes a livewell is an area that you keep fish in and it also recirculates the water. Charger boats like mine run a cooling tube thru the ice chest to keep water cooler...in summer it is hard to keep fish in good shape. There is one in the front and one in the rear on mine.
Fish have never gone so fast and rough water is hard on them when you are flying thru big water and waves.
