12 volt light powered by lipo

    hi guys
I have a snowmobile trailer that I would like to add a interior dome light inside for loading at night.
I really do not want to cut into the wireing of the trailer to do this.
Is it safe to power a 12 volt dome light with a 3s lipo for short periods of time?
loading trailer takes 30 to 45 minutes at times.
    thanks
    Dan

It should be fine. Just be sure not to over discharge it.

        cold temp

should the cold temperature be a concern for the lipo.
It will be in the trailer for a week in weather 0 to 20 degrees F.
        thanks

You will wreck a LiPo keeping it under 0c (freezing point of water) for long periods. I have a friend that lost a lot of LiPos by turning his fridge down too low, it may be OK if you only ever want to use them for the light, just don't think that you will be using the same LiPos in a boat after the thaw. Splicing into TV he trailer lights seems like the obvious thing to do for convenience and cost, why don't you want to do it that way?

Pick up one of those cheap lipo alarms that beep when it gets to cutoff voltage.

Life lipos can take the cold better no? Anyway, you want something that isn't going to get hurt in freezing conditions.
