I know this isn't the answer you were looking for...but...
My favorite rescue boat is the cheapest kayak you can get from Wal Mart.
Fast easy retrieval, and fun to boot!
    This is NOT a toy?!?

Cheap canoe, can find then in the want adds for cheap/free if you aren't to picky.
Fishing rod if close to shore.
I find a canoe to be much quicker than an rc retrieval boat, we do have one of those as well. Doesn't get much use at all anymore.
Also nice if you have to bring in multiple boats.
LOL I'm getting lazy, want a trolling motor for my canoe, no paddling!
Also depends on how commited to the hobby you are, been running boats for about 35 years. I know I'm not going to lose interest so anything I buy I know will be used for years to come.
A kayak would be fun! Never been in a touring one, only white water, lol that would be sketchy for a retrieval boat!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
