    Neu 1518 1.5d 2340kv for Whiplash

The bolt pattern is the same as my Neu 1515 1y motor so swapping motors will be easy (dual bolt pattern m3 or m4). Both the 5mm and 8mm shaft versions are avaliable. Can size is the same as 1521 size motors. Notice the old style motor wires on the newer 1518.
The 1515 has a can diameter of 1.536". The 1518 has a can diameter of 1.574"

I have order the same motor Neu 1518 1.5d 2340kv for my MG. It will be ready for shipping in a couple of weeks. Can you tell me if the 1515 aluminum water jacket
(OSE Product ID: ham-neu1512-1515) fit to the 1518 can?

I am still testing my Whiplash using the 1515. You can email OSE and ask if the 1515 cooling jacket will fit (1518 has a .038" larger can). IMO cooling jacket will not be needed for 6 lap racing. I will probably be using the homemade aluminum cooling coil in its place.

I just got my "clearance" motor today. It's a fresh build but has the early 2010 design meaning it has the pinned end bell and the wires that exit the can are the can windings (the way I prefer). It's does have a beefy 8mm shaft but that sucker sticks 1-3/4" out of the can so some shaft trimming will be in order. Overall I'm pretty happy with it and can't wait to try it out.

As for the cooling, I just happen to have a 1515 1Y w/cooling can in my box so I tried to fit it on the 1518. It was just a bit too tight. The problem is the o-rings are a couple years old and pretty stiff. I pulled the o-rings off and the cooler does have enough clearance for water circluation. I'm pretty sure once I get some fresh o-ring I'll be able to get her on there.

You got a super good deal on that motor. When will you test it?

Always use the lowest advance with the "D" motors as advanced timing will not give more speed--only more heat. It may be a while. The FE30 is in P-Spec configuration now. I have two races next month and have to figure out whether I'm going to run in her in Spec Hydro or Open FE Hydro (if there are enough entries). After seeing what the FE30 can do with the1515 1Y, running her with Spec power is like watching paint dry. I could also put the motor in my mod JAE but I'm but I'm saving her for oval trials and don't want to risk breaking the boat heat racing. I know, I'm a wuss.

I'm curious to hear your results of your neu 1518 in your mg and see how the compare to a cc 1518 which I have in mine. All I have to say is after about 5 or motors this one was the winner for me I love it

I've been running one of these for about a year now in my DF33. It's certainly got more power than I know what to do with (using an M445). Top end is a bit better than the 1515/1Y, but the acceleration is immense. I need to spend some time testing more props to get the most out of this combo.

I know it won't fit in a clamp style motor mount for a 1515, so you may need a water jacket to suit a 1521 for this motor. I use one of Andrew's Kuhlers on mine, looks good and works well.

                      Here's a thread of one in a Mean Machine - http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...hlight=machine
