This is going to be cool. I will be fitting the UL-1 hatch and canopy to my new whiplash build. I will cut off the original nose piece on Whiplash then run a solid piece of shaped pine across front (sponson to sponson).

No turning back now. I cut original nose piece off using scroll saw. UL-1 hatch follows Whipash's contour perfectly.Last edited by detox; 07-05-2010, 01:00 PM.Comment

Just like in diagram below. I will remove the cross piece before I add fiberglass and epoxy to the floor.Attached FilesComment

Making progress. This 9 5/16" long piece of bass wood was cut on a table saw then front edge was sanded round (more shaping is needed). I will then blend in the bottom edge to battery tray using balsa or bass wood.Last edited by detox; 07-13-2010, 10:45 AM.Comment

Thanks Jeepers. It will be easier to tape and use less tape . Plus the UL-1 cowl/hatch looks cool.
Here's picture with measurments of cross piece. This will save you lots of time if you ever decide to do this mod. I cut this from block of bass wood using table saw.

Waiting for epoxy to cure on maple motor mount blocks. Blank 3/16" Pop rivets were glued in then threaded using 6/32 tap. I mounted motor plate same distance from transon as my Raptor rigger so that same length drive cable or wire can be used. COG will be OK......I HOPE.Last edited by detox; 07-14-2010, 05:10 PM.Comment
