It is interesting how small of a prop you are running. My 10S boats I run 457-460-462-665 props with no issues. But that is on a mono and a Cat. Anything below the 457 just makes noise and stirs up the water. I have a Lehner 3080/8 and a Neu 2215/2Y.

And Mark F. was running a 467, 472, 2716, and a few other big gas props the other day on his 2230 sport hydro (oval set up).

I meant Y557, oops... I know what you mean, i tried 47mm prop once, and could not get the boat on plane. I got ABC 2118/3 i want to try.

2118/3 did not work well, but stock X457/3 was great. Great thrust on the turns, even on really tight ones that prop did not lose it's push. Now i wonder if i should de-tongue this three blader? Is it really necessary?

I also made no spark device to lessen strain on the caps and connectors when connecting battery to controller. I wired 15 ohm 1 watt resistor to positive wire on controller with alligator clip on the end of resistor. Then i wired another wire with alligator clip to positive battery wire. First, i connect negative battery wire to controller. Then i connect the alligator clips together and that charges the caps. Then positive side is connected with no spark. Cool.

Just received new 30C lipos from Pat at rclipos. He's got 30% holiday discount right now on Enerland's batteries. Now, my pack is 10S2P 10Ah total. I will run it no more than 200A continuous, so i hope they will last long. Now i am trying to figure out fast charging for them. I will run them this Sunday at the club lake. I will get another pack from him for my Miss Vegas.

            No Spark

Could you post a pic of your no spark device hooked up?
            Thanks,
            Hugh

He has 30% advertised on RCpoly only... is it on TP as well?
              Great deal nonetheless.

I think it is just on the RCPoly brand. I just picked up a bunch of packs from him on Tuesday. Great prices as always!!

It's just 15 ohm 1 watt resistor hooked up to positive wire of the ESC.

                  1. connect negative wire
                  2. connect resistor wire. very little spark. ESC powers up.
                  3. connect positive wire. no spark.

For lower voltage, try 5 - 10 ohm resistor. 1 ohm will work too, but the spark is a bit big to my liking.

Nine months since I started this project, it is time for an update. I got Schulze 40/160 controller and made water cooling jacket for Neu 2230. Got rid of teflon shaft lining and went bare brass for now. For past week I have been working on combining four 5S1P lipo packs into two 10S1P assemblies with *super* low resistance wiring. I also want to be able to remove packs from the boat quicker and easier. By turning two packs into one, I eliminated 5 inches of interconnection wire, a pair of connectors and about 10" of 8 gauge wire that ran to the front of the pack. To replace that long wire, I used 11" x 2" and 0.05" thick copper sheet. That's enough copper for ten 10 gauge wires of same length. It also serves as sturdy support frame for joined battery packs. It's silicone coated for waterproofing and separated from the cells by six strips of double sided sticky foam tape. Heat shrink film wrap makes whole assembly stiff for easy handling.

Next I will be working on "the black box" where I will mount the receiver, RX battery, every LiPo cell monitor and throttle limiter board, new Eagle Tree 300A data logger and bunch of D-Sub connectors to connect to everything outside.

Here are few pics of batteries mounted in the hull:

Hey, you get to go through all of your stuff and get rid of what you don't need.
Here is the thread I started earlier about my watercooling jacket: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ead.php?t=7827
