Default zippy flightmax or turnigy ?

I've been really happy with the Zippy Flightmax 30/40 C 5000 4S batteries; used singly in my P-Spec OPC with UL-1 motor. Great punch so far. I want to order another pair for sport running at 4S2P in my Vegas [ 1515 1Y ] . Any advice on choosing between:

    Zippy Flightmax - 30/40 C , 526 g , 140 X 48 X 33 mm, $ 79.02

    Turnigy - 30/40 C , 537 g , 143 X 49 X 32 mm, $ 64.95

Apparantly they're not the same batteries ; the Turnigys seem larger, but less $$.

    Any advice/feedback ?

Edit : I'm running a conservative setup propwise in the Vegas, sport running so far, short runtimes. Mr. Hill, you have any input, you're our battery knowledge guy ?

I ran the Flightmax cells in my 6s heli and they were good cells for the money. I have been reading that some of the Turnigy cells have been way out of balance and others are puffing. They have sold so many of those cells that you really can't go by some guys complaining about a bad pack here and there. For the money they are worth a go in a mild setup for sure. I was going to buy 4 packs for my heli and decided to go with G3 packs just to keep all my packs the same and the fact that when I needed them the Turnigy packs I wanted were out of stock for almost a month.

Chopper, I have used zippy's since I started in boats a few years ago, and used mainly zippy-H. I have the Turnigy 4s (5.0) batteries and they are great. As most zippy's they all have great punch..especially the higher c rated lipos that they sell now. I have never used flightmax and have read mixed reviews on them, but I have read that the turnigy are the same as the zippy-H. Zippy-H were/are supposedly the best in the zippy lineup. The Turnigy that I use, both in 2650 and 5000mah are compact, but thick. They fit in my .21 riggers great, and the size is fairly accurate to what hobbycity claims.
    Hope this helps.

Chopper....take some vid of your miss vegas, if you can. I'd still like to see it run. Mine should be finished in a few weeks, as well.

I thought the turnigy's were zippy's newest batts and flightmax has 4mm bullets and turnigy has 5.5 bullets and heavier gauge wire

    I just received two 6s 30c 5000mah turnigy's for my sprint cat

Thank the good lord Zippy has made rc brush less lipo's a reality for new users wanting to get into the FE world ...it just helps the sport to have more people envoled to force manufactures to develop better products that are more competitive

killer products and killer performance......how many times have I heard reviews of how these batts compare to the kingpin enerland cells

I can't comment on the 4S pack, but I can compare the 2S packs
    I have a 5000mAh 20C Zippy and a 5000mAh 20-30C turnigy.
The Turnigy is a little bigger, has heavier softer leads and has way more punch.
It is cheaper and for me is the better buy.

btw the Rhino 4S 4900mAh pack I have is close to identical to the Polyquest in size, shape and weight. ???
    Makes you wonder.

For sport boats you can not miss with the Turnigy.

I have both ZippyFlightmax 2S 4000mAh, and Turnigy 6S 5000mAh lipos. They work fine just like my other more expensive TP packs.

Actually the 4S 5000 Turnigy's have 4mm power leads but no biggie, I have lots of 5mm to solder on.

It seems like I'll go with the Turnigy's based on what's been said so far. I will say that my 4S 30C 5000 Zips have enormous punch for the first 30 seconds or so; my VS-1 can't stay level for 30 seconds and then settles down and rips.

    Thanks all for the comments

Patrick, my new camcorder got ripped a few months ago. I'll see if Jan can shoot some footage. With some really tired batteries & small props [for the 1515 1Y] the boat is so perfect I'm just floored. Just beautiful to see and run [ I even put the wing on for looks !

Its going to fly. by buddy got some last week. we ran them in the ul-1's and i cant believe the power they have. they are comparable to my high end packs. last night i ordered two 30c 4s and 4 30c 2s packs.the only thing that kinda concerns me is how long they will last but at the price they are at i think i will get my moneys worth out of them.

I haven't heard any bad stories of these cells yet. Why pay more, even if your a racer? Is 30c not enough. A little over a year ago you couldn't even get 30c packs!

30c is great if it is truly 30c and i believe the Turnigy are. my same friend also wasted money on some 30c packs off fleabay that were more like 10c.

Hi i have it from a good source that Flightmax,Turnigy,Rhino batts are all made in the same place, the rhino lipo says on the lable Zippy battery
so i guess it's a personal choice you just buy the ones that suits your application for size etc the quality is the same best lipos for the price
I personally wil never again buy expensive lipos fo any my applications hobbyking all the way

If those packs were bad, it would be written down all over the place.....big US hobby distributors don't know anything and will sell anything to make a buck, that's why I started messing with batteries to begin with. I know this is not popular with some, that's my experience.

Flight Power is the perfect example of this from Tower Hobbies
