    I never got a chance to try the ProBoat grease. I tried the ones listed above (and a couple others). I am STILL using up what I purchased... even after giving away some.

    Hi Bob,
    Us old guys will try anything .....before the first run I flat smooth file the cable ever so lightly. Makes the cable feel like you have run it all year! Then clean with acetone. I like to run the teflon dry so the fricton will deposit Teflon on the tight spots of the cable. I use Grimm grease on the prop stub and bushing. After the first couple of dry runs you can lube the cable if you like. But if you can get the Teflon to transfer to the cable now you have Teflon running on Teflon. No grease will match that. I learning it doing rear main seal testing for full size engine diesel and gasoline. These Teflon seals must be installed DRY or they will leak until replaced. They do not use a garder spring to load the seal to the shaft. Fast is loose HA.
