But Andy your driving is so boring you went to sleep and stuck it into the wall. Get a bit of zig and zag in your life man and it will help keep you awake.

I nearly lost the Big rigger to a wall at the weekend.
Something went wrong Rf wise. The main suspect is the Rx pack but anyway, It glitched a little on the first pass but I was not too worried. ( should have been )
On the second pass it veered to the right and I dropped power and applied rudder.
    Nothing !!
Into the wall of the Quarry at 70+ kmh. The blessing is that there is a line of weed at water level and this cushioned the blow and held it there until I could paddle out and pick it up.
Small dent on the front of one sponson and 2 booms snapped.
The booms still hold as there is a layer of shrink wrap at all the hull entries. It was just a bit flacid.

I am now waiting for time to get up to the hs to get more tube and also for the weather to fine up too.

    Stay happy all.

Simon I didn't hit a wall but by the looks of the XS2 I might as well have. Broken CF tube and some hefty cracks in the glass sponsons. You can see pics in the Andy and Paddy thread.

    Andy,
The local policeman delivered the 1521 motor. Thanks for addressing it to the Mulgrave Street Brothel. It saved me going to the post office and picking it up. That cop asked me about his freebie and when I told him that I was as good as it got he was quick to leave. I am not sure that we can use that delivery service again

    Andy,
DF 33 tested again this morning. This was the setup....

    Zippy Flightmax 5s1p 30c, Neu 1515 1.5y, CC Hydra 240, Andym special M545 and a non blueprinted DF 33 clone. = 106 kph or 65.87 mph.

I am so surprised at how fast it is and love the Zippy battery. I did water cool the esc this time and all temps were cool (below 110). I only done SAW runs and no laps this time. I allowed 3 or 4 minutes between runs. First run was 103 kph, next run 104 and the last run was the 106 kph. I did flip the boat on the last run but it was after I lifted the throttle. Have you ever had that problem before? I will ease the throttle off next time and not just lift my finger off completely. I will get a video up as soon as I can.

Mate I am so happy with this boat. Thanks for your help along the way. You sure packed some speed in that prop. I can run that motor on 6s and I guess the speed would be over70 mph or close too it but mate I am going to get this thing dialed in a little better with the steering before I try that. The trim tabs are clear of the water now.

Great news mate, that is bloody quick for a 4s DF33, the flip could be from sudden weight transfer at speed over chop maybe? What do you think of the cheap packs? I like them for the price!! We are going to the river this weekend and will be taking 3 boats, should have some good vid
    Cheers and well done

Nah it is 5s Andy, but still quick. The Andym special prop has a lot to do with the speed I think but it has got me thinking that my riggers should be quicker than they are if a mono built by me can be that fast.
You may be right about the weight transfer thing as it was a little choppy. I did not see it all as I was looking into the sun but I did see the boat come from beneath the water and almost jump it's own length as it surfaced. I guess it nosed into chop as the power came off and went completely under.
The Zippy pack is incredible. As you know I wanted a 60 mph mono and purchased that 1521 1.5 D from you to do that. Well I am getting 65 mph on the 1515 1.5y.
I hope you get some video as your boats are all fast.

Andy these are not great videos but you see a couple of places it shows its real speed. I had a very small area of the lake to myself because of kids fishing and the bit I did have you will see I was sharing with stupid ducks. Best speed was 102 kph this afternoon but I have no doubt it would have been better with more space. I am going to be at that lake at the crack of dawn tomorrow and hope to have better videos tomorrow.

    Andy,
I tested the 5s Zippy Flightmax battery this morning and it is OK. I tested it with one of your special X642 props and the speed was a surprising 102 kph. Things are cooler with this prop, as expected, and the speed drop is not much, so I think it is a better combination to run.
I think that once I put water cooling on the motor I will have a mono that will do 60+ mph until the low voltage battery cut off cuts in and things will be about the right temps. I could not have asked for more and it is something I thought would be months down the track.
