    Default Powering a 1/8 Unlimited

    Will a 4074 2250kv with 130a esc run a 1/8 hydro on 4-6s?

1/8th scale is usually around 44 inches. just to be clear we are on the same page. a 4074 is wildly undersized. a 4092 would be the absolute bare minimum. the appropriate motor would be a 5692-56112 on 8s. max KV would be around 1250kv, with 900kv-1100kv being ideal. ESC minimum should be a ZTW 200A. Ideally a Castle Creations XLX2.

a TP 4070 with a flycolor 150A/OSE Raider 150 on 6s could possibly suffice for speeds up to about 50mph.

With limited info the short answer is yes. A rubber band powered paddle wheel will as well.

    Yes, but not very fast.

If it's for sport boating, I would recommend a 56mm motor around 800-1100 kv on 8S paired with a 300+A ESC. ZTW, SF, Castle, etc. Can't go wrong with an XLX2 for 8S or less. Less kv for more voltage.

If it's to be NAMBA race legal, then the motor cannot exceed 42x105mm or 860kv rating. So a TP4070 860kv or Neu 1527 850kv would be good options. Also paired with a 300+A ESC. ZTW, SF, Castle, etc. Can't go wrong with an XLX2 since this class is 8S and so is the ESC.
