Sonicwake v2 range

I just got the sonicwake v2 in and on the first couple of runs I?ve noticed the range distance is not very long. We had a MG 24 and it would reach twice as far as the sonicwake does. I was pretty surprised when it lost signal the first time, it was less than a 100 yards away?more like 75 yards or so.

Is there anything that I can do to increase the distance?

Do you have the antenna sticking up as high as possible? I don't know about the V2 (I have a V1), but I would assume the V1 & V2 user the same Tx & Rx, and I've easily reached over 300ft without any problems. I did pick up a V2 for my stepdad several months ago, but we haven't yet had the opportunity to go run it.
