Default MAD Racing Boat Worx 45 Sport Hydro put-together

This will be the biggest sport hydro I’ve put together. I won’t be racing this in a sanctioned event as of right now. This is purely a fun runner.
Any pointers or suggestions are appreciated!

Laid up nicely in 12k Carbon Fiber:

I decided to add a layer of 12k cf inside anywhere I could potentially place batteries:

With the added cf the boat weighs about 11lbs.
RTR w/lipos it weighs just shy of 19lbs.

I’ll try to keep it lite.

Debating on a few different motors:

The one that looks like the best fit is the big Plettenburg: 6-8k watts

I was hoping to get away with the Neu 1539, but it looks like a toothpick in there:

The smaller Plett is similar to the 370S allowed for 1/8 scale hydros, but it also looks too small: 4-5k watts.

Both Pletts are interchangeable 8s and 10s motors so that gives me some wiggle room for prop use.

Transom taped and strut installed. Speedmaster round bottom:

Should I use a flat bottom strut instead?

What size is it? over in the UK im not sure what a sport hydro is, hardly anybody runs a hydro

I've just had mine out, 10s and a out runner... running abc 1816 at moment, fast enough and can keep the throttle pinned for 4 mins straight without any heat build up

It’s 45 inches long and is considered a sport hydro just like yours. I saw your boat a while back and loved it! How long is yours?

Some 4lb foam in the nose and lining up the mount.

I don’t like the angle but the motor bottoms out if I go to steep.

You sure that's not a 1530 neu? If it is definitely don't use that get rid of it, I'll take it off your hands. Ha Ha

I couldn’t get the stuffing tube angle right with the stock stringers so I made a couple cf plate rail extenders:

Hold on to them. Plett isn’t producing private use motors anymore; commercial/industrial products only.

Will have to double check LOA but think it's around 40" ball park.

I might try it on 12s on Friday ! has a YGE HV esc I have no idea about setup on these, hard to get it on the plane with the ABC props but once its moving, it runs beautiful.

This boat was designed around gas which makes it a little challenging to set up. The seller runs one (gas) and has been helpful.

Yeah man, your hydro is one of the best looking sport hydros I’ve seen. It reminds me of a PT Hydro.

Hydra fits nicely in front of the motor:

Maiden today but, I couldn’t hold my phone and drive at the same time. I’ll have my wife video for me on the next one.
    IMG_3278.jpg IMG_3280.jpg

If the hydra telemetry data is accurate the Plett pumped out nearly 12,000 watts (15 ponies) on 8s! Current peaked at 401 amps w/a 2515-17.45.
    IMG_3288.jpg IMG_3289.jpg

I’ll make some adjustments to loosen it up a little bit and hopefully get the current down.

Trying to film and drive at the same time and the picture quality isn’t great (how do I adjust that?).
