BEC or RX batt pack?

HI all
Just pondering whether to use a bec or batt pack to power rx in my 1/8 scale.
For my part there are some pros in the wiring side as I have to have a safety loop, but I could wire the the bec into the anti spark loop and power it up that way before the main power.
If I use a batt pack then I need to add another switch, which I can do.

Any pros/cons regarding bec issues vs batt pack?

BTW it runs a 10s setup on an SK130 HV esc.

Just out of curiousity what motor are you going to use in it . The 1/8th scale I'm slowly working on, I'm going to use a 300a esc. So it doesn't have a built in BEC. I'll be using a battery pack.

TP4070 830 kv. We have a 6000 mah limit. I am eyeballing the new ZTW 300 for size, but I don't need it at this point. Everything has got expensive for us as the $NZ is down against the $US. It would cost me over $600. It would be nice if there were more options on 200A 12s esc's. I'm not touching Swordfish as I have seen too many of them die.

A Safety Loop has to be on the main battery pack =12S
Not the radio power.

You dont need a BEC capable of 12S if you dont want to. You can wire the BEC for only one of the 6S packs in series, but you have to make sure you are on the right side of the 12S series connection per the attached image

Im a heli guy that is coming back into boats again after many years, and we rarely ever use a full 12S BEC setup on our helis. Its just not needed considering how far you are stepping down the voltage, so one 6S pack connection is fine, and less stress on the BEC

That's a good point, I have a bec, I will have to check it. Otherwise just a battery pack as normal.

I decided to go with a rx battery. Sorted!
The BEC that I have in a drawer is a Turnigy one that does 6-42V.
It'll keep.
