    Default first outboard

    happy new year! i am starting a tunnel build (zippkit 30) i have never built an outboard and have a motor/battery question, please. is it better to run a 4s with a 2200kv or a 6s with a 1600kv. im not a racer, but i want demon speed..36-40 and no bigger than 72 max..please advise. TY

    This all depends on the room in the hull and where you want the weight, also which batteries one has on hand may influence a decision. Both those choices are good. I usually find 4s packs easy to place.

    I have a similar hull the old Aquacraft VS-1. I run it on 4S with a 120 amp ESC. With a good quality 36 mm x 60 mm 1950 to 2200 Kv motor atop a race style lower, I use OS, spinning a X640 or X442 prop the boat runs mid 40's mph solid, stable. Good run times too watch temperatures.
    I put the electronics in rear an battery up front, battery can be moved a little fore or aft to trim boat. happy rooster tails
