I am in the process of building a 1/7th scale version of the 1979 Miss Van's PX for a bit of electric racing. It will be a wood boat from enlarged Newton Marine plans with a 3D printed cockpit and cowling. Attached are a couple pictures of the real boat, current state of the woodwork for the project and the CAD design work for the cockpit/cowl.
I do have a question about sheeting for the top deck. I plan to use 1/32nd plywood for the decking. Since the deck curves in two directions and I have always had problems with either a ripple in the sheeting and/or getting a seam where the sponson sheeting meets the main deck because the curvature changes. Is there a recommended approach to getting the front end of a round nose to look smooth and consistent?
