HW 180 amp SK ESC, Cuts out every 3 to 5 seconds

Finally got my Miss Vegas Duece swapped over to electric, had the CG too far forward and sent it immediately to the bottom. (never messed with anything other than deep Vee's and they don't do that kinda thing) Anyway...decided to see how she behaved in the pool for the 2nd try and CG was a lot better but I could only go about 20 ft and the power would cut off. after I cycle the trigger I could go another 20 ft and same thing. After reading thru the forum I realize there's a dozen or so possibilities unless...anybody recognize this issue specifically or is it start going down the checklist time?
Thanks in advance for any advice, I know it sounds like Im being lazy Im just really limited right now with tools, supplies, ancient transmitter, no program box and maybe a little lazy too!

Lower, or preferrably disable, the Low Voltage Cutoff setting on the esc, which is notorious too sensitive on that model.
