    Default Active free wheeling

There are two settings ON & OFF
For a boat what should it be set at and why.
It is not mentioned at all in the manual.

Basically when you let off throttle the motor keeps spinning until it stops on it's own instead of a quick stop?

    Not quite Ray
They both keep running as they slow down.
With Free Wheeling turned ON it produces less heat in the ESC
