If I keep it as is in the pics I won't need to restrict the left turn but the prop will be further back than the rudder. Is it beneficial to have the rudder in the prop wash for some reason? How would I make a rudder extension?

Ways to get rudder away from prop :
#1 Add spacer between where rear portion of rudder assembly mates with front rudder hull bracket moving it starboard, away from path of prop.
#2 Add length of material to hull rudder bracket to move rudder further rearward.
As your participation in this hobby progresses it's best to grow a collection of bits and pieces of various materials to use when spacers will be problem solvers

Oh ok, I think puting the spacer between front and rear rudder assembly will work best. I have steel material I can use, wish I had some aluminum. I'll check out the hardware store. Thanks for the help.
Ok I should be good now, put in an aluminum rudder extension. Thanks for the tip.IMG_20210706_182642223.jpg

That should work for you. You can always experiment with different lengths of material.

Well I could shorten it by maybe a quarter inch but not much more. You think the rudder is out too far now?
No... Only change things if you need to. I just said you always have an option to change it. It's fine.

Ok thanks
Almost done..just gotta mount esc and install hatch locks and button up connections. She's not too pretty but let's hope she runs well.

Think I'm done. Tested it in my pool and seems sea worthy. Rides a little low at a stop but planes out at speed(could only get about 18ft of running room). Did I make it too heavy or does this hull naturally ride low? Have a vaca at a lake house in Maine next week..leaving Sunday. Hopefully it will handle well at speed.

Boat works great..probably does about 40, very stable..ran in some chop. Ran for about 20 mins..half the time full or close to full throttle and batteries were at 10.5v. motor and esc cool to touch. Took on a little water but not much. Handles well.
Nice build and looks great! Do you have a link to where you bought the outrunner?

Actually had to scrap the outrunner it was cogging hard. May have damaged it using mounting screws that were too long. . Ended up with the sss tfl 2860.
