Needs lots of help here... using QS 6 connectors and got the soldering done but cannot get the covers on. I've destroyed two so far. Tried oil, Vaseline, tapping them on, and channel lock pliers. What am doing wrong here?

I know exactly what you mean. I tried the QS6 connectors, and, after having problems with almost every one of them, I finally gave up. I switched to RCProPlus Solderless S7 connectors (7mm vs QS6 6mm), which are not only slightly larger in diameter, but they have a higher electrical capacity. Plus, with the advantage of being solderless, they're not only easier to work with, but also reusable. The only downside - at $60 for four complete sets (4 male red, 4 female red, 4 male black, 4 female black), they're not exactly cheap. If you're interested in checking them out:

QS6 are 6mm connectors bought through OSE. No problem soldering, just getting the plastic housing over the connectors
Are they the red ones? Did you try to push the connectors into the plugs? I think you have to put the wire through the connector, solder on the bullets and then pull them back into the plugs.

Tried it both ways
First time yes, sanded it all down then cut them off and soldered a new set being more careful
I'm not familiar with those connectors, but one of my tricks is to use a bench vise as a press, or to support the connector base from the bottom as the wire passes between the jaws and then to use a round punch and hobby hammer to tap the connector into place.

Sounds like a plan! Thanks
